What do you need to make custom badges?

Before starting, make sure you have the following on hand:

• A badge maker machine (manual or semi-automatic).
• The consumables: metal fronts, backings (with safety pin, bottle opener, mirror, etc.), and transparent plastic film (mylar).
• Your design printed on paper (it can be a photo, logo, text, or anything you like).
• A circle cutter or scissors to cut your design to the exact size.

At Uvimark, you will find high-quality machines and supplies to make your own custom badges easily. Discover them here.

Step-by-step: how to make badges with a machine

1. Prepare your design

Print your design on paper. Make sure it is the correct size according to the diameter of the badge (for example, 25 mm, 59 mm, etc.). You can use templates to center the design properly.

2. Cut out the image

Use a circular punch cutter to get a clean and perfect cut. This will make assembly easier and improve the final finish.

3. Assemble the badge

Place the components in the machine in this exact order:

1. The metal front base.
2. Your cut-out design.
3. The clear plastic mylar film.

Then, place the back ring of the badge into the second die of the machine.

4. Press with the machine

Rotate the upper part of the machine toward the first die (the front one) and press the lever down firmly. Then do the same with the second die (the back one). And that's it! You now have your first custom badge.
